This module represents the theme of ATP Ltd. which is Preservation. We have a saying at ATP which we want to lecture on teach wherever and when ever we can which is, “Save the crown… Save the Roots & Preserve the Tree!” As we have lived and worked in Asia we have become so aware of the need to present this theme to anyone focused on trees in the urban environment and in landscape practice. Read more... Many factors affect the development of trees as they mature and experience the natural environment in which they are located. In this module the trainee will be able to investigate trees as to their dynamic physiological factors in a wide range of forms and conditions. This module will allow the attendee to consider structural factors, design and dynamics in tree growth. The program is designed to help the trainee to understand tree biology, physiology, structural dynamics and structural variations. A wide range of tree types and forms will be investigated. Natural target pruning will be clearly explained, demonstrated and practiced. Good and poor tree cutting practices will also be reviewed in order to provide a clear goal for the tree professional to achieve. Read more... Probably one of the most important issues in Arboriculture today is the need to be able to determine accurately and as clearly as possible the potential risks presented to the public by trees in the urban environment. ATP understands this issue of tree risk and has vast experience in both evaluation of trees for preservation and the application of appropriate action or mitigation in cases of danger. The TRA Module ATP will provide the attendee with an understanding of the 21st Century accepted practices for “Tree Risk Assessment” practices. Read more...

Basic Requirements
Basic requirements for attendance: - at least 18 years of age.
- no physical or health condition that may create unreasonable risk for climber or others.
- a minimum set of tools.
- approved safety helmet (personal, one user)
- Proper climbing clothing (proper fitting long trousers & long or short sleeved shirt)
- Approved tree climbing boots (leather construction that supports the ankle)
- Proper fitting gloves that permit strong grip
- Approved, tree climbing rope – 40 meters long
- Tree climbing lanyard (2-N-1 recommended; two sides with three double-locking carabiners or snaps)
- 3 Double-lock carabiners and/or double-locking snaps
- throwline (1.75 – 2 mm diameter X 60 meters long)
Note: ATP can allow two to share saddle and rope or will consider providing some basic equipment upon request at registration.
